Court Dismisses Defamation Case Against Actress Lizzy Anjorin in Abuja

The Chief Magistrate Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, dismissed a criminal defamation case filed against Nollywood actress Elizabeth Aishat Anjorin, popularly known as Lizzy Anjorin. The case, filed by Abdullahi Adebimpe Mosadoluwa and his wife based in Lagos over a property development issue, was deemed to lack merit and not properly brought before the court.

The complainant was ordered to pay a cost of 50,000 Naira to the defendants, including Lizzy Anjorin and her co-defendant Shakira Ayobami. The court found that the complaint failed to follow the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, as it combined several offenses in one case.

The magistrate noted that the parties involved resided in Lagos State, not the FCT, which further affected the court's jurisdiction. The court concluded that the complaint suffered serious procedural defects, amounting to an abuse of the court process, leading to the dismissal of the criminal complaint and the cost award against the complainant.
