Taraba APC Aspirant Sues Party Over Congress Conduct

Alhaji Haruna Hadi Lau, a chairmanship aspirant for the APC in Taraba State, has initiated legal action against the party by dragging it to the Federal High Court in Jalingo. Lau claims he was unjustly excluded from the process that produced a consensus candidate during the recent state congress.

He expressed concerns to journalists regarding the lack of transparency and fairness in the congress, alleging that the process was compromised and that the committee assigned to conduct the congress did not properly engage all candidates. Lau noted that he had stepped down his candidacy contrary to claims circulating within the party.

He further stated that the congress was conducted without proper knowledge of the electoral committee and that an appeal committee's grounds were not met. Lau's petition seeks redress, highlighting a growing discontent among party members regarding the congress's conduct, which they believe negatively affects the party's future electoral fortunes.
