Court to Hear Nafiu Bala's Suit Against ADC Leadership

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set April 14 as the date to hear a suit filed by Nafiu Bala, which seeks to prevent the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by David Mark, from presenting itself as the party's leadership. Justice Emeka Nwite fixed the date following the issuance of a hearing notice for the case, registered as suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025.

The defendants include David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court previously adjourned the matter indefinitely pending the outcome of an appeal filed by the defendants.

The appeal, which is set for judgment on March 12, aims to maintain the status quo until the substantive suit is determined. The ADC's name was removed from INEC's official website on April 1, prompting Bala's legal action.

The defendants have filed preliminary objections, arguing that the court lacks jurisdiction and that the suit is an abuse of court process.
