ADC Alleges Judicial Interference in Leadership Suit

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of David Mark, has accused external forces of attempting to interfere in a legal battle concerning party leadership. The Federal High Court in Abuja is set to hear a suit filed by Nafiu Bala against Mark.

The ADC claims that there are efforts to influence the reassignment of the case and exert pressure on Justice Emeka Nwite, which they argue undermines judicial independence. This legal challenge comes amid escalating tensions within the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections, with various prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Rotimi Amaechi, adopting the ADC coalition platform.

The ADC's national public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, warned that such interference poses a threat to Nigeria's constitutional democracy. The case has already seen multiple legal challenges, and the ADC's leadership is seeking to restrain Mark and others from presenting themselves as party leaders.
