Court Schedules ADC Leadership Dispute Hearing for 2026

The Federal High Court in Sokoto has set a hearing date for July 22, 2026, concerning a legal suit brought by Alhaji Umar Faruk, who is challenging the current leadership of the ADC. The matter was adjourned due to the absence of a principal party, who was unavoidably unable to attend.

The lead counsel for the first defendant, Dr. Sulaiman Usman SAN, along with Barrister Salmanu Jabo, filed an application for the adjournment, citing critical issues related to the suit. The court noted that there were three pending processes that had not been served to the parties involved, which raised concerns about the fundamental rights of the parties.

Prof. Ibrahim Abdullahi SAN, representing the second and third defendants, did not object to the application for adjournment. The court emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair hearing and adherence to procedural rules, specifically referencing the requirement for service of process within seven days.
