Court Sets May 26 for Malami Terrorism Case Hearing

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set May 26 for the Department of State Services (DSS) to present its case against former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami, in a terrorism trial. Justice Joyc Abdulmalik presided over the proceedings, where counsel for the DSS, Akinlolu Kehinde, informed the court about the amendment of five counts in the charges filed against the defendants, replacing earlier charges.

The defense counsel, Shaibu Aruwa, confirmed receipt of the amended charges and did not oppose them. Both Malami and his son pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include engaging in preparatory acts of terrorism and possession of an unlicensed Sturm Magnum 17 firearm.

The court granted the defendants continued bail, initially granted on February 27, as the prosecution did not object. The case has been adjourned to June 15 for trial.
