Court of Appeal Ruling Defied in Ikoyi Property Case

The Court of Appeal has issued a perpetual injunction concerning a high-value property dispute in Ikoyi, Lagos, which has been reportedly disregarded, raising serious concerns about compliance with judicial orders and the rule of law in Nigeria. The ruling, delivered on April 11, 2025, under appeal number CA/LAG/CV/45/2024, restrains the first respondent and its agents from selling, assigning, or exercising any form of ownership over the property.

Allegations have surfaced against two companies, Diya Fatimilehin & Co., for continuing activities related to the property despite the court's order. The firm has allegedly taken possession of the site and commenced construction and marketing of units in a development known as Greenville Terrace.

This situation has prompted questions regarding the enforcement of judicial decisions and the potential undermining of public confidence in the judiciary. Additionally, an appeal has been lodged with the Supreme Court of Nigeria under case number SC/CV/409/2025.
