Court Orders Arrest of NSCDC Boss Over Assault Case

On Wednesday, a magistrate court in Ilorin, Kwara State, presided over by Chief Magistrate Adebayo Dupe, issued an arrest warrant for Abba Mohammed, the NSCDC boss, due to his failure to appear in court concerning an assault case involving two NSCDC officers. The case was brought forth by Barrist Aladodo Abdullateef Nurudeen, who alleged that he suffered assault at the hands of the officers, Ajayi William and Gbolahan Busari Babatunde, on April 10, 2026.

The incident occurred when Nurudeen visited the NSCDC office to attend to a client complaint. He reported being physically assaulted despite identifying himself as a legal practitioner.

The Nigerian Bar Association described the assault as unprovoked and a blatant abuse of power. The court had previously ordered the NSCDC command to produce the accused officers, but they failed to comply, prompting the prosecution to seek an arrest warrant.

The matter has been adjourned for further hearing.
