Court Orders Arrest of NSCDC Boss for Contempt

On Wednesday, a magistrate court in Ilorin, Kwara State, presided over by Chief Magistrate Adebayo Dupe, ordered the arrest of Abba Mohammed, the boss of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for contempt of court. This order followed Mohammed's failure to appear in court regarding an ongoing assault case involving two NSCDC officers, Ajayi William and Gbolahan Busari.

The case arose from a complaint filed by Barrist Aladodo Nurudeen, who alleged he was assaulted by the two officers on April 10, 2026, while visiting the NSCDC office in a professional capacity. The Nigerian Bar Association described the assault as unprovoked and a blatant abuse of power.

The court's decision to issue an arrest warrant was based on the NSCDC command's failure to comply with a previous order to produce the accused officers. The matter has been adjourned for further hearing, with the next court date set for June 10, 2026.
