Court Orders British Airways to Compensate Nigerian Passenger N50m for Contract Breach

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered British Airways to pay Nigerian passenger Stephen Osho N50 million for breaching their contract of carriage and providing inadequate service. Justice Ibrahim Kala ruled in favor of Osho, stating that the airline's actions caused undue hardship, inconvenience, and financial loss to the passenger.

The court's decision, based on the Montreal Convention 1999 and Nigerian Civil Aviation Act, highlights the importance of upholding passenger rights in international air travel. British Airways was also directed to cover Osho's legal costs amounting to N3 million, emphasizing the consequences of failing to fulfill contractual obligations.
