Court Orders Final Forfeiture of 52 Lekki Housing Units

On July 15, 2026, Justice Alexandra Owoey of the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the final forfeiture of 52 housing units located in Mercyville Estate, Lekki, to the Federal Government. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed that the properties were linked to unlawful activities.

The case was initiated by the Lagos zonal director of the EFCC, following an interim forfeiture order granted on August 14, 2024, by Justice Akintayo Aluko. The EFCC's counsel, Franklin Ofoma, argued that the properties, valued at 1.9 billion naira, were acquired through proceeds of economic and financial crimes.

The court found that the EFCC had complied with all public requirements and established sufficient grounds for the forfeiture. The ruling also noted that Ifeanyi Nweke, linked to the properties, failed to appear in court and faces separate criminal charges.

The court rejected opposing affidavits as contradictory and granted the EFCC's application for final forfeiture.
