Court Allows N100bn Defamation Suit Service via Social Media

The FCT High Court has granted Governor Alex Otti permission to serve a N100 billion defamation suit on former commissioner Ez Chikamnayo through social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. The suit follows alleged defamatory online posts made by Chikamnayo against Otti.

The court approved the use of social media for service after Chikamnayo allegedly failed to retract the posts despite a demand letter. The case has been adjourned to January 19, 2026, for further proceedings.

Otti's counsel, Dr. Sonni Ajala, seeks to restore Otti's reputation and goodwill, claiming significant damage from the malicious online posts.
