Trial of Ex-Taraba Governor Bello Yero Postponed to June 2026

The ongoing trial of former Taraba State Governor Bello Yero has been adjourned to June 15, 2026, following the withdrawal of his lawyer, Samuel Fagad. The case, presided over by Justice S.C.

Oriji, involves 15 counts of alleged conspiracy and breach of trust linked to ₦27 billion in public funds. The prosecution, led by Rotimi Jacob, had begun presenting its case with witness Taiwo John when the proceedings were interrupted by the announcement of Fagad's withdrawal.

The court was informed that Yero would need time to secure new legal representation, as he currently has no lawyer. The judge granted the request for an adjournment, expressing concern over the manner of the lawyer's withdrawal, especially since it occurred during witness testimony.

Additional hearing dates have been set for July 2, 7, 13, 14, and 15, 2026, to continue the trial.
