CESJET Commends Ribadu, Oluyede on Counter-Terrorism Efforts

The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency (CESJET) commended National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede for their contributions to strengthening Nigeria's counter-terrorism efforts and enhancing cooperation with the United States. This recognition came after the second session of the US-Nigeria Joint Working Group, held on August 12 in Washington, which was led by Ribadu and hosted by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker.

The discussions aimed at protecting Christian communities in the Middle Belt, improving judicial and security institutions, and fostering military-to-military cooperation. CESJET praised Ribadu for his strategic direction in international security engagement and Oluyede for promoting operational coordination among the armed forces.

The group noted the significance of these discussions in addressing violence, religious freedom, and accountability. Additionally, Nigeria has initiated a new phase of terrorism trials involving over 500 suspects, with hundreds of convictions reported, and military operations have neutralized 317 terrorists.
