Ribadu Leads Nigeria-U.S. Security Talks in D.C.

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, led the Nigerian delegation at the latest meeting of the Nigeria–U.S. Joint Working Group in Washington, D.C.

This engagement is part of a broader shift in Nigeria's security architecture towards a more coordinated, intelligence-driven national security strategy. The meeting included senior officials such as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Interior, highlighting a whole-of-government approach to security.

The Joint Working Group aims to enhance cooperation on various security issues, including intelligence sharing, counterterrorism, and border security. The National Counterterrorism Centre noted that the Nigeria–U.S. engagement has progressed from dialogue to actionable outcomes, improving operational planning and disrupting criminal networks.

Ribadu's role is pivotal in connecting intelligence to action, addressing historical challenges of fragmented intelligence and inadequate coordination among agencies.
