CPPE Warns of Risks to Budget Scrutiny Due to Delays in MTEF Submission

The Centre for Promoting Private Enterprise (CPPE) in Nigeria has raised alarm over delays in submitting the 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), citing potential risks to budget scrutiny and credibility. Dr.

Muda Yusuf, the CPPE Director, emphasized the importance of timely compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Act to strengthen fiscal governance. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved key fiscal documents outlining revenue expectations and macroeconomic assumptions for the next three years.

However, CPPE highlighted concerns over crude oil price benchmarks and urged for further reforms to enhance Nigeria's fiscal planning and transparency.
