Nigeria's Cricket Team Faces Challenges After Namibia Tour

Sulaimon Runsewe, captain of the Nigeria National Cricket Team, stated that the team has significant work ahead following their challenging performance at the Namibia Tri-Series in June, where they lost all four matches, including two each to Namibia and Hong Kong. Despite the disappointing results, Runsewe believes the tour provided valuable lessons for the relatively new squad, which is still adapting to the coaching style of Stephen Mangongo, who was appointed head coach in May.

Runsewe noted that the tour was a great exposure for the team, emphasizing the need for continued improvement and character development among the players. Since returning from Namibia, the team has resumed training at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos in preparation for the ICC Africa Sub-Regional C Qualifier for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for October.

Nigeria will compete against Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda, and Zambia for the top two spots to progress to the regional final.
