MURIC Urges FG to Criminalize Boat Boarding Without Life Jackets

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the Nigerian government to criminalize boarding boats without life jackets to prevent frequent boat accidents. MURIC emphasized the need for federal, state, and local authorities to enforce this safety measure and invest in modern ferry services.

The organization highlighted the high rate of boat accidents in Nigeria and the loss of many lives annually due to inadequate safety measures. MURIC's Executive Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola, stressed the importance of introducing coast guards and ensuring the use of modern ferries to enhance water transportation safety across the country.
