Shettima: Criminals Have No Tribe or Religion in Plateau

On Saturday, Vice President Kashim Shettima addressed the issue of violent attacks in Plateau State, asserting that the criminals responsible have no tribe or religion. Speaking at the 80th birthday celebration and public presentation of the autobiography of former governor Jonah Jang in Jos, Shettima warned against ethnic profiling and collective blame of communities for the actions of individuals.

He encouraged the younger generation to reject inherited hatred and pursue peace and reconciliation. Shettima emphasized that those committing atrocities do not represent any community or culture and condemned the practice of condemning innocent people for the actions of criminals.

He expressed concern for the burdens young people carry from conflicts they did not initiate and called on elders to mentor the youth toward forgiveness. Shettima described Plateau as crucial to Nigeria's history and security and praised Jang for his decades of service, urging unity among Nigerians to foster a society where peace prevails over division.
