ADC Leadership Crisis in Adamawa: Court Halts Congress

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State is currently experiencing significant internal crises characterized by leadership disputes. A high court, presided over by Justice Kyanson Samuel Lawanson, has issued an interim order to halt the planned congress of the party until the determination of a suit filed by Israel Ishaku.

The order, granted on April 10, 2026, aims to enforce fundamental rights and maintain the status quo to prevent any prejudicial outcomes from the ongoing legal proceedings. The court found sufficient merit in the application for interim relief, which restrains the respondents, including Barrister Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin and Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka, from conducting the state congress until the matter is heard further.

The case has been adjourned to April 17, 2026, for the parties to appear in court for further proceedings.
