Edo APC Crisis Over Alleged Imposition of Chairman

A crisis has emerged within the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as members allege the imposition of Christoph Eriamato, a non-indigenous and non-party member, as the Ovia North-East Chairman. This allegation is linked to former Deputy Governor Lucki Imasuen, who is accused of orchestrating the move.

A letter addressed to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, signed by Lugard Iyenoma, expresses the group's concerns and calls for urgent intervention to halt the alleged plan. The group argues that Eriamato's appointment would undermine party unity and legitimacy, as he has previously worked against the APC.

They warn that such imposition could erode confidence among party members and weaken local representation. In response, Peter Uwadai, the state public secretary of the APC, stated that the party's constitution guarantees the right for qualified individuals to contest in primaries, asserting that there is no imposition and that the party will maintain its unity and cohesion.
