Governor Otu Mourns UNICROSS Students Killed in Crash

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State mourned the loss of students and a staff member from the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) who were killed in a road accident along the Calabar-Itu highway. The tragic incident occurred on Friday night when a coaster bus carrying 24 students, primarily members of the Student Union Government Executive, collided with a truck in the Odukpani Local Government Area.

Among the deceased were Solomon Uya, the Director of Sports, Lucki Erim, a Chemistry student, and Favour Darlington, the Faculty President of Education. Anthony Arikpo, a staff member who was driving the vehicle, survived and is currently receiving treatment.

Governor Otu expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and the entire UNICROSS community, emphasizing the immense sorrow and loss felt across the state. He also noted that the state government would engage relevant authorities to respond to the tragedy and ensure support for the affected families.
