Cross River State Partners with NEMA on Emergency Response

On Tuesday, during a courtesy visit from a delegation of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) led by Assistant Director of Operations Labaran Ahman, the Cross River State Government reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with NEMA to strengthen disaster risk reduction, preparedness, and emergency response across the state. Deputy Governor Peter Odey commended NEMA for its proactive interventions and ongoing collaboration with the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency (CR-SEMA).

He emphasized that disaster preparedness is a crucial aspect of the Governor Bassey Otu administration’s strategy to protect lives and property. Odey assured NEMA of the state government's full support for the successful implementation of its programs, stating, “We are ready to work closely with NEMA and other development partners to protect lives, preserve livelihoods and build more resilient communities across the state.” Ahman mentioned that NEMA's visit aimed to brief the government on ongoing and upcoming activities and to reinforce the partnership on disaster risk reduction.
