Cross River Deputy Governor Dr. Odey Survives Auto Crash

On Sunday at about 2pm, Dr. Peter Odey, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, survived an auto crash involving his convoy in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area. The incident occurred as Odey and his entourage were returning to Calabar from Obanliku Local Government Area, where they attended a stakeholders’ engagement regarding the proposed concession of the Obudu Ranch Resort.

While the condition of Dr. Odey could not be independently confirmed, reports indicated that some members of his convoy sustained injuries. A Government House press bus carrying appointees and staff veered off its lane near an Army checkpoint and crashed into three sandbag barricades.

One individual reportedly suffered a leg injury, and another was seen bleeding from the nose. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The accident marks the third involving the deputy governor's convoy in two months, raising concerns about the state of official vehicles. The fleet for the Office of the Deputy Governor has been reportedly depleted, necessitating the use of vehicles from the governor’s convoy.

Officials declined to comment on the incident.
