PDP's Archibong Advocates for Issue-Based Campaigns in Cross River

Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River, urged for issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 governorship election during a statement made in Calabar. He condemned personal attacks and blackmail from political opponents, specifically referencing a recent advertorial he alleged was linked to the state government aimed at damaging his reputation.

Archibong challenged anyone with evidence of criminal wrongdoing against him to come forward, asserting he has no criminal record. He emphasized that campaigns should focus on the state's developmental challenges and candidates' plans rather than personal attacks.

Additionally, Archibong criticized the current administration for its poor performance in infrastructure and human development, alleging plans to incite violence through cult groups during the election period. In response, Emmanuel Inyang, the APC State Publicity Secretary, dismissed Archibong's allegations as unfounded, asserting that the APC enjoys the support of Cross River residents due to the administration's achievements.
