PDP Candidate Critiques Cross River Economy and Governance

Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, the governorship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, asserted that the state's economy would have collapsed without the contributions of non-indigenous residents and business operators. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Archibong criticized Governor Bassey Edet Otu's administration for poor economic policies and insufficient support for businesses.

He emphasized the significant role non-indigenous people play in sustaining economic activities in the state. Archibong called for policies that foster business growth and wealth creation instead of ineffective measures like distributing used vehicles and minibuses as empowerment tools.

He argued that such practices do not provide sustainable economic opportunities and often serve as political patronage. Additionally, he highlighted the lack of government support for private investments, specifically mentioning Arthur Jarvis University, which he established.

Archibong urged for a stronger partnership between the government and private investors to create jobs and expand economic opportunities ahead of the 2027 elections.
