PDP's Archibong Accuses Cross River Governor of Neglect

Sir Arthur Javis Archibong, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River, accused the state government of deliberately promoting "deep-rooted rural poverty." During a press briefing in Calabar, Archibong criticized Governor Senator Bassey Otu for lacking programs to address rural poverty, describing the situation as an "unmitigated tragedy." He claimed that local governments, which are designed to combat rural poverty, have been hindered by the state government, which he accused of mismanaging their funds. Archibong noted that the Governor spends little time in the state, often traveling to Abuja or abroad, which disconnects him from the people.

He pointed out that in almost four years, the Otu administration has failed to deliver any significant projects, focusing instead on renovating inherited structures. Archibong stated he would serve only one term and promised to be an active governor, engaging with all zones in the state to implement real development.
