CSOs Urge Tinubu to Resolve Military Pension Board Dispute

Civil society organizations, particularly the Arewa Renaissance Movement, have expressed support for a call urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing dispute surrounding the military pension board. This controversy centers on the recent appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idri Adamu as chairman of the board.

The group, led by Abba Umar, aligns with the earlier position taken by the Security Public Affairs Analyst Forum, which has urged the President to ensure that Adamu assumes office immediately. They argue that the situation raises broader constitutional concerns and warn that failure to address the issue could undermine presidential authority.

Umar highlighted the importance of the President's role as Commander-in-Chief and referenced past incidents involving similar disputes, emphasizing the need for adherence to constitutional precedents. The organizations are advocating for decisive action from the federal government to reform the security sector.
