PHED Provides Free Meters and Cancels School Debts in Rivers

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) has distributed free electricity meters to selected government schools in Rivers State as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. This initiative also included a sensitization program called the ‘School Safety Campaign’ focused on electrical safety for students.
Mrs. Olubukola Ilevbare, PHED Head of Corporate Communications, stated that the company aims to positively impact local communities beyond just billing. The management, led by MD/CEO Ete Pinnick, also wrote off outstanding bills for some schools, providing them with a fresh start in their electricity consumption.
Principals from the schools expressed gratitude for the meters and the cancellation of debts, with Tamunoinaba Phillips from Model Senior Secondary School highlighting the challenges faced due to lack of electricity. Nwala Uzoma from GSS Borokiri shared his relief over the cancellation of a N500,000 debt inherited from previous management, thanking PHED for their support.
