Nigeria Customs Service Implements 2026 Tariff Amendments

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced the implementation of the 2026 Fiscal Policy Measures and Tariff Amendments on Thursday, as approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This initiative is part of the federal government’s strategy to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal and trade policy framework, enhance revenue generation, and align the tariff regime with regional and international obligations.

Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, stated that the amendments include a Revised Import Adjustment Tax list, a Revised National List, a Revised Import Prohibition List, a Revised List of Goods Liable to Excise Duty, a Green Tax Surcharge on motor vehicles with engine capacities of 2000cc and above, and a Revised Export Prohibition List. Stakeholders such as importers, exporters, manufacturers, and licensed customs agents are required to familiarize themselves with the amended tariff schedules.
