Nigerian Customs Sets N11.074trn Revenue Target for 2026

The Nigerian Customs Service has set an ambitious revenue target of N11.074 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year, which is almost double the N6.584 trillion target for 2025. This target exceeds the 2025 revenue by N674 billion, with a projected revenue generation of N7.277 trillion.

The Senate Committee on Customs, led by Jibrin Isah, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending the tenure of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi by six months. During a budget defense session, Adeniyi outlined the proposed expenditures for 2026, which include N1.235 trillion for personnel costs, N421 billion for overhead costs, and N565 billion for capital expenditures.

Despite challenges such as the implementation of government policies affecting operations, the Customs Service is determined to meet its revenue goals. The committee urged the Customs leadership to enhance revenue generation reforms and improve anti-smuggling measures.
