Nigeria Customs Returns Stolen Luxury Vehicles to Canada

On May 4, 2026, the Nigeria Customs Service returned multiple stolen luxury vehicles to Canadian authorities at Tin Island Port, Lagos. The vehicles included a 2019 Lexus RX350, a 2019 Mercedes Benz G550, a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover, a 2019 Lamborghini Huracan, a 2021 Rolls Royce Dawn Convertible, a 2018 Lamborghini Aventador, and a 2026 Toyota Tundra.

The handover ceremony was attended by Nasser Salih, Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, and Frank Onyeka, Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service. The operation was based on intelligence shared with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which traced the vehicles stolen in Canada and illegally exported to Nigeria.

Onyeka stated that the operation demonstrates Nigeria's growing capacity to combat international organized crime and vehicle trafficking, as criminal syndicates exploit weak international shipping controls. The customs service's commitment to cargo profiling and maritime enforcement is crucial in addressing these issues.
