Ogun Customs Seizes N3.57bn in Illicit Goods and Drugs

The Ogun I Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted illicit drugs and smuggled goods valued at N3.57 billion in Duty Paid Value (DPV) as part of its ongoing operations against cross-border economic sabotage along the Idiroko axis. Afeni, reported that the operations have been ongoing since June 24, 2026, and emphasized the use of enhanced intelligence and technology. A significant aspect of the briefing was the transfer of 6,035 parcels of high-potency cannabis, known as “Ghana Loud” and “Indica,” to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.

Afeni warned that such narcotics pose serious threats to national security and public health, as they fund violent criminal networks. Since January 2026, the Ogun I Command has transferred a total of 32,412 parcels of illicit drugs to the NDLEA.

The command also displayed other seized goods, including foreign rice and petroleum products, highlighting the impact of illegal imports on local agriculture.
