Nigeria Customs Seize N36.5m Expired Raw Materials, Transfer to NAFDAC

The Nigeria Customs Service's Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command intercepted a 20-foot container carrying 440 bags of expired raw materials worth N36.5m. The Chief Superintendent of Customs, Victor Ogagbo, and Customs Area Comptroller, Bolaji Adigun, revealed the discovery during routine cargo examination.

The materials, including stearic acid from Indonesia, were in violation of import regulations and posed potential health risks. Another 40-foot container with falsified items was also intercepted.

Adigun emphasized the command's commitment to enforcing customs laws and preventing the importation of expired and substandard products. The command recorded revenue exceeding targets, with N147.2bn in 2025, showcasing a 35% growth from the previous year.

Adigun commended the team's efforts in combating smuggling and illegal trade activities, urging sustained commitment to upholding customs laws and protecting national revenue.
