CVR: We will identify multiple registration –  Sokoto REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Sokoto State, Umar Garba, has warned against multiple voter registration, stating that it violates the Electoral Act and could lead to prosecution. The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise began online on August 18, 2025, targeting new voters, those who have relocated, and individuals seeking to transfer or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Physical registration is set to commence on August 25 across the 23 local government areas in Sokoto State, with designated centers at the INEC state headquarters. Garba emphasized the need for registrants to present valid means of identification, such as a national ID card, passport, driver's license, or birth certificate, to prevent electoral fraud.

INEC will deploy Voter Enrollment Devices and Automatic Biometric Identification Systems to detect multiple entries.
