Cyclist Killed in Lagos Truck Collision Sparks Road Safety Concerns

In Lagos State, a cyclist lost his life in a collision with a truck along the Airport Road in Ikeja. The incident occurred near the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital bridge.

According to Adebayo Taofiq, the head of public affairs at LASTMA, the cyclist failed to maintain a safe distance from the heavy-duty vehicle. The truck and the cyclist were at the Maryland Axis when the tragic event unfolded.

LASTMA intervened promptly, preventing the truck driver from fleeing the scene. Sola Giwa, the governor's transport advisor, expressed condolences to the deceased's family and urged all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.

The Lagos State government reiterated its commitment to enforcing road safety measures and educating vulnerable road users.
