Daniel Daga Acquitted of Sexual Assault Charges

Daniel Daga, a former midfielder for Mold FK, was acquitted of sexual assault charges by a Norwegian court on March 2026. Daga had been sentenced to six months in prison after being found guilty of committing a sexual act without consent, with the incident reportedly occurring in April 2025.

The formal charges were filed on December 19, 2025. Following his conviction, Daga was indefinitely suspended from first-team selection at Mold FK.

However, the court appeal overturned the verdict, leading to his unanimous acquittal. Mold FK acknowledged the seriousness of the case and stated that they would assess the situation based on the court's judgment, although the verdict was not yet legally binding.

Daga's lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings. Daga, who represented Nigeria at the U-20 level, joined Mold FK at the start of the 2025 season and made 15 appearances, scoring three goals.
