Sokoto Dan-Iya Wins ADC Governorship Ticket for 2027

Sokoto Dan-Iya emerged as the ADC's governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections after winning the party's primary election with 52,831 votes. The primaries involved delegates from 244 wards across 23 local government areas, overseen by Chief Returning Officer Professor Aminu Abubakar Ilela.

In his acceptance speech, Dan-Iya thanked party members for their confidence and pledged to work diligently to ensure the ADC's success in the forthcoming elections. He called for unity among party members and acknowledged the support of party leaders, particularly former governor Aminu Waziri Tambuw.

Dan-Iya, who served as Deputy Governor under Tambuw's administration from 2018 to 2023, was chosen as the party's consensus candidate among ten aspirants, which included notable figures such as Senator Ibrahim Lamido and former ministers Faruk Malami and Yusuf Suleiman.
