Danbatta Inaugurated as 14th NAE President, Focuses on Growth

Danbatta has officially become the 14th President of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE), where he unveiled a four-point agenda aimed at fostering engineering-led growth in Nigeria. His agenda focuses on enhancing collaboration between academia and industry, promoting mentorship, and ensuring that public policy is driven by engineering research and innovation.

Danbatta pledged to champion home-grown technological solutions to tackle critical challenges such as power supply, broadband expansion, and climate change. He emphasized the importance of bridging the skills gap to equip graduates with practical entrepreneurial skills relevant to industry needs.

The ceremony also saw the induction of 12 new fellows and the presentation of lifetime achievement awards to 10 distinguished members. His predecessor, Prof.

Rahamon Bello, had previously strengthened the academy's role in strategic advisory on engineering and technology innovation policy. Emeritus Prof.

Fola Lasisi urged for increased investment in engineering education and research to drive Nigeria's economic growth and development.
