Dangote Foundation Pledges N366M for Borno Recovery Efforts
The Dangote Foundation committed N366 million in shares to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and announced scholarships for 4,000 girls during the Borno State Durable Solutions to Internal Displacement Private Sector Roundtable held in Lagos. The event, which concluded over the weekend, was disclosed by Dauda Iliya, the Special Adviser on Media to the Borno State Governor.
It gathered over 20 private sector leaders from various sectors, alongside representatives from key United Nations agencies, including UNHCR, IOM, and UNDP. Nine organizations signed formal letters of commitment to invest in Borno's recovery agenda.
The roundtable also facilitated land allocation approvals for two investors and allowed Airtel to secure right-of-way approval for telecom towers. The Borno State Government introduced an ease-of-doing-business incentive package, promising rapid land allocations and tax waivers to attract investors.
An Investment Facilitation Support Group will be established to monitor project progress and address challenges.
