Dangote Proposes Fuel Storage Terminal in Cameroon

The Dangote Group has proposed the construction of a petroleum products storage terminal in Cameroon to strengthen the distribution network for its 650,000-barrel-per-day Lekki refinery and expand its presence in Central Africa. The proposal was presented to Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, by Devakumar Edwin, the Group’s Vice President for Oil, Gas and Fertiliser.

The terminal aims to build Cameroon’s strategic petroleum reserves, enhance fuel supply security, and may include a pipeline network to reduce logistics costs. The project is currently at the discussion stage, with no agreements reached, and details regarding location, storage capacity, investment value, or timeline remain undisclosed.

If realized, the terminal would serve not only Cameroon but also landlocked countries like Chad and the Central African Republic. The investment could diversify fuel sources and strengthen supply security in Cameroon, aligning with the country's ongoing efforts to expand petroleum storage capacity through various infrastructure projects.
