Darma Inspects Near-Completion of Lagos Housing Project

On June 11, 2026, Engr Muttaqha Rabe Darma, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, inspected the Lagos Renewed Hope City Project located in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State. The inspection aimed to assess the project's progress, which comprises a total of 2,084 housing units, with plans to commission the project in October.

The project is a flagship development under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, involving the Federal Government and the private sector. Darma commended the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) for its role in advancing affordable housing, noting that the bank has financed 1,500 housing units in the project, which could provide shelter for approximately 6,000 Nigerians.

He expressed satisfaction with the project's completion level, estimating it to be 80-90% finished. Shehu Usman Osidi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FMBN, reaffirmed the bank's commitment to delivering affordable housing solutions and emphasized the need for a phased completion approach to expedite housing delivery.
