Datti Baba-Ahmed Resigns from Labour Party, Joins PRP

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who served as the vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, officially announced his resignation from the party on Tuesday during an appearance on Channel Television's "Politics Today" program. Baba-Ahmed cited internal disagreements and described the party's current political environment as uncomfortable, stating that it no longer represents the values it once stood for.

He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress for allegedly weakening opposition parties instead of addressing key national challenges such as insecurity and economic difficulties. His resignation from the Labour Party took effect at midnight, and he confirmed plans to join the People's Redemption Party (PRP) as his next political platform.

Baba-Ahmed expressed his intention to work towards producing a genuine southern Christian candidate for the upcoming 2027 general elections. When asked about his presidential ambitions, he refrained from providing a direct response but noted his satisfaction with his political accomplishments.
