Baba-Ahmed Critiques Obi's 2027 Presidential Aspirations

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former running mate of Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election, publicly criticized Obi for his recent exit from the Labour Party. In an interview released on Monday, Baba-Ahmed stated that Obi is not prepared to contest for the presidency in 2027.

He highlighted that the major issue lies in Obi's inability to address the challenges facing the opposition parties. Baba-Ahmed noted that the northern region may not rally behind Obi, especially with the recent political maneuvers involving former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who has switched from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

Baba-Ahmed emphasized that without substantial northern support, no presidential candidate can succeed in Nigeria, pointing out Obi's poor performance in the north during the 2023 elections. He expressed skepticism about the viability of an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, suggesting that the political landscape is fraught with challenges.
