Dauda Lawal Named New Telegraph Governor of the Year 2025

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, was honored with the New Telegraph Governor of the Year award for 2025 during an award dinner held on Friday at the Grand Ballroom of the Lagos Orient Hotel. The announcement was made by Sulaiman Bala Idri, the governor's spokesperson.

The New Telegraph newspaper recognized Governor Lawal for his administration's extensive reform projects across key sectors in Zamfara State, which aim to improve living standards and drive sustainable development. Notable achievements cited include the resolution of a 13-year backlog of civil servant gratuities, amounting to over 16 billion naira, and the payment of outstanding WAEC and NECO fees for three years.

Upon receiving the award, Governor Lawal expressed gratitude to the management and editorial board of the Daily Telegraph for the recognition, stating that it serves as a moral boost and will motivate his cabinet to increase efforts in implementing projects that benefit the people of Zamfara.
