Davido Plans to Step Back from Spotlight by Age 40

Afrobeats singer Davido revealed that he plans to step back from competing for the spotlight once he reaches the age of 40. In a recent episode of a show, he discussed the future of his generation in the music industry, stating that he and other artists should consider taking a break within the next five to six years to allow younger musicians more opportunities.

Davido emphasized that older artists should not compete with those in their 20s for attention. He mentioned that he could take a long break from music and still attract a large audience due to his existing catalogue.

He stated, “This is me and my contemporaries’ last 5–6 years. I am not going to be 40, still dragging the spotlight with guys in their 20s.” He referenced Jay-Z's successful break from music as an example and expressed confidence that he could return after a significant hiatus and still perform at major venues.
