Osun Resident Dele Ayegbo Shot Dead Amid Political Tensions

Dele Ayegbo, a resident of Esa Oke in Osun State and nephew of Oluwole Oke, the Director-General of the Osun All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council, was shot dead by assailants traveling in a black Sports Utility Vehicle late on Wednesday, between 11 pm and 12 am. Eyewitnesses reported that Ayegbo was killed near his home in the Idofin quarters, and two other individuals were also shot and hospitalized during the attack.

Sunday Omolebi, a media adviser to Oluwole Oke, stated that Ayegbo was shot while in his car, suggesting a targeted attack aimed at undermining Oke's influence in the area. The Osun APC accused hoodlums affiliated with the Accord Party of the crime, claiming that Ayegbo's murder is part of a broader pattern of political violence in the state, which has reportedly surpassed the violence seen during the 2022 governorship election.

The party called for decisive action from the police to address the killings of APC members.
