APC Chieftain Ahmed Comments on Recent Political Defections

Ahmed, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed that the party does not actively pursue individuals to join its ranks. He made this statement during an interview on a political program on Channel Television.

This comment comes in light of recent defections, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who left the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC. Ahmed noted that the party's approach is not to seek out defectors but rather to welcome those who choose to join, suggesting that those who defect do so because they perceive weakness in their former parties.

He mentioned that the APC has seen several governors defect, including the latest from Zamfara State. Ahmed emphasized that the party does not view defections as a sign of strength for the opposition, asserting that the APC is not concerned with actively recruiting defectors but is open to those who wish to join.
