Defence Minister Musa Denies Resignation Rumors, Threatens Legal Action

On Tuesday, Gen Christopher Musa (retd.), Nigeria's Minister of Defence, refuted rumors regarding his resignation and announced intentions to pursue legal action against the sources of these claims. Musa expressed his shock at the reports, stating he had no knowledge of their origin and had never discussed resignation.

After a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, where he arrived around 3 PM and left after 4 PM, Musa clarified that the meeting was a routine security briefing. He reported that President Tinubu was pleased with the military's performance and highlighted the ongoing improvements in Nigeria's security situation.

Musa attributed the rumors to individuals dissatisfied with the administration's progress and called for continued civilian support in combating terrorism and banditry. He expressed gratitude for the public's support, emphasizing a collective approach to defeating these threats.

Musa was appointed as Defence Minister on December 2, 2025, after serving as Chief of Defence Staff from July 2023.
