Defence Minister Musa Denies Resignation Rumors, Threatens Legal Action

On Tuesday, General Christopher Musa (retd.), the Minister of Defence, refuted claims of his resignation, labeling them as unfounded. After a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Musa stated he had never considered stepping down and would pursue legal action against those spreading the rumors.

He expressed surprise at the speculation, attributing it to individuals dissatisfied with progress in Nigeria's security sector. Musa emphasized that his meeting with President Tinubu was routine, focusing on national security, and noted the President's satisfaction with ongoing military operations.

He commended Nigerians for their support in combating terrorism and banditry, asserting that public cooperation is essential for achieving lasting peace. Musa, who was appointed Minister of Defence on December 2, 2025, after serving as Chief of Defence Staff from July 2023, has been actively overseeing security operations since taking on his ministerial role.
